Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

el-Noorda: Interdisciplinary Journal of Quran and Hadith

General Information

el-Noorda is a peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal that publishes original and high-quality research on the Quran and Hadith using critical, interdisciplinary, and contemporary approaches.

Manuscript Scope

Manuscripts should align with the journal’s focus on Quran and Hadith studies, including (but not limited to): interpretation, criticism, hermeneutics, methodology, law and governance, ethics, gender, environmental studies, digital humanities, and comparative Islamic scholarship.

Manuscript Preparation

  • Language: English (preferred) or Arabic (selective)

  • Length: 6,000–8,000 words (including references)

  • Format: Microsoft Word (.docx)

  • Font: Gill Sans MT, 12 pt

  • Spacing: 1.5

  • Margins: Standard A4

  • Abstract: 150–250 words (English), followed by 3–5 keywords

Citation and References

  • The journal applies the APA (American Psychological Association) Style, 7th Edition.

  • In-text citations must follow the author–date system, e.g. (Saeed, 2020).

  • The reference list must contain at least 30 references, with a minimum of 40% from peer-reviewed journal articles, preferably published within the last 5–10 years.

Plagiarism Policy

All submissions must have a similarity index of less than 15%, excluding references, as verified by plagiarism detection software.

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts are subject to a double-blind peer review process. The editorial board reserves the right to accept, revise, or reject submissions based on reviewers’ recommendations.

Publication Fee

el-Noorda applies a NO APC (Article Processing Charge) policy. Submission and publication are free of charge.
