Author Guidelines

General Author Guidelines

Articles submitted for publication must adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Articles should be original, unpublished, and not under review for possible publication in other journals.
  • Articles submitted should be based on research, whether library-based, fieldwork, or other types of research.
  • All articles will be published in English. However, authors may submit manuscripts in either English or Indonesian.
  • Articles should be approximately 6,000–12,000 words (excluding the reference list). Please use the Lora font, size 11, with 1.15 spacing on A4 paper, and set margins to 3 cm on all sides.
  • All submissions must be in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file formats. Other formats, such as LaTeX files or PDFs, will not be accepted.
  • Articles should include the following sections: 1) title; 2) author name (without academic titles), affiliation, and email address; 3) abstract in English; 4) 3–5 keywords in English; 5) introduction; 6) results and discussion; 7) conclusion; and 8) bibliography.
  • Articles should include the full name of the author(s), a university or professional institution, and a valid, contactable email address.
  • All submissions must include a 150–250-word abstract.
  • Tables or diagrams should be sequentially numbered, with the title and number placed above them. Tables should be centered on the page, with single-spaced content and bold headings.
  • Figures should be included in the electronic version of the manuscript in either JPG or PNG format.
  • Foreign language words or phrases should be italicized, and Arabic–Latin transliteration should be applied consistently throughout the manuscript.
  • Articles should include a bibliography consisting of primary sources (books, manuscripts, interviews, or observations) and updated secondary sources from books or peer-reviewed journals.
  • Citations and the reference list must follow the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, seventh edition (APA 7). Use author–date citations in the text and arrange the reference list alphabetically by author. Every source cited in the text must have a corresponding reference-list entry, except sources such as personal communications that APA treats as in-text citations only.

Examples of In-Text Citations

  1. One author, parenthetical citation: (Fauzi, 2023).
  2. One author, narrative citation: Fauzi (2023).
  3. Two authors, parenthetical citation: (Hakim & Nasution, 2023).
  4. Two authors, narrative citation: Hakim and Nasution (2023).
  5. For a work with three or more authors, use the first author's surname followed by “et al.” and the publication year, unless additional names are needed to distinguish otherwise ambiguous citations.
  6. For a direct quotation, include a page number: (Fauzi, 2023, p. 7). For a quotation spanning multiple pages, use “pp.” followed by the page range.
  7. For multiple works within one parenthesis, arrange citations alphabetically and separate them with semicolons: (Bello, 2011; Fauzi, 2023).
  8. For works by the same author published in the same year, use the suffixes “a,” “b,” and so forth consistently in citations and reference-list entries.
  9. For a source without page numbers, identify the quoted passage using a paragraph number, section heading, or another appropriate locator.
  10. Non-retrievable personal communications, including private interviews, are cited in the text using the communicator's initials, surname, and exact date; they are not included in the reference list. Research participant quotations should instead be reported in accordance with the study's methodology and confidentiality commitments.
